CVS to open 13 more COVID-19 testing sites in CT

Aetna parent CVS Health announced Thursday it will open 13 more drive-thru COVID-19 testing sites in Connecticut tomorrow, adding to 12 sites the company opened in the state last week.

The new sites debuting Friday will use a self-swab test, the Rhode Island pharmacy giant said in a statement. The company has opened about 350 sites nationally so far, and expects to open 1,000 sites total by the end of the month.

“As we move into a new phase of combatting the pandemic and as communities begin to safely open up their local economies, we need testing to be easily accessible,” said CVS Chief Medical Officer Troyen Brennan.

Beginning May 22, patients looking for a test will have to register on CVS' website, according to CVS. Once at the site, patients will stay in their cars, wait for instructions, and self-swab in front of a CVS employee. The swabs will be sent to a third-party lab, and results will be available in about three days.
